Housing

Community Mental Health Center, Inc.’s housing program consists of 110 housing units scattered throughout the CMHC service area. The housing program offers individual and family housing opportunities for people who are experiencing homelessness.

The program is primarily funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). To be eligible for the HUD program, there are criteria that must be met, including:

  • Need to be an active participant in services with Community Mental Health Center, Inc.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Meet the HUD definition of homelessness

HUD defines homelessness as living in a shelter or living in a place not meant for human habitation, such as a car or tent. If you find yourself in a homeless situation and you are an active patient of CMHC, you can discuss the situation with your staff person and they may make a housing referral.
